Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve

Wildlife: Tigers, chital, sambar, nilgai, barking deer, wild boar, and gaur; leopards, sloth, dholes, striped hyenas and caracals prowl rare grasslands alongside 37 mammals, 260+ birds (malabar pied hornbills, paradise flycatchers, vultures), 70 butterflies, and reptiles in a lush forest of sal, mixed deciduous forests, and bamboo.

Tala Zone is the most iconic zone with limited jeeps, Magdi features elephant safaris. Khitauli has serene bamboo realms while buffer havens like Dhamokhar, Johila, and Panpatha offer intimate grasslands and bird bonanzas. Permits for Dawn-dusk jeep safaris (4 hours) or elephant rides can be booked online via Madhya Pradesh forest portal. These run October-June, peaking March-May when tigers congregate at dwindling waterholes amid wild mango blooms; guided treks and night patrols add to the thrill.
