About Us
Gosumbe Experiences
The chameleon, known as Gosumbe in Kannada and after whom we are named, plays an important role as a natural pest control, eating flies, roaches and other small insects. To add to this, is its amazing ability to adapt and change with respect to its surroundings. It is however looked upon as a bad omen by some local communities in Karnataka and targeted and killed for no fault of its own. This is just one instance of an essential species being misunderstood and inexplicably targeted by humans.
We believe that this can change by changing the narrative to alter people’s perspective of the natural ecosystem. That is what sparked the beginnings of Gosumbe Experiences.
Our Mission
Any sustainable impact on conservation can only happen through a change in human attitude and behaviour towards nature and wildlife. Change in behaviour starts with a change in perspective. It is this change in perspective that we aim to achieve.
With Gosumbe experiences… we strive to create intimate interactions with wildlife that will change the lens through which the natural ecosystem is viewed.
Our Vision
We hope to contribute to a better understanding of the wild through engaging stories and memorable encounters that will enable people to view the natural ecosystems as an essential part of their life on Earth and truly empathise with all the living species on this planet.
In time we want to spread our wings towards conservation of endangered species staring with the humble chameleon, while striving to create more opportunities for human-animal interactions aimed at co-existence and respect.
