Forged in 2000 from the union of Satpura National Park (524 sq km), Bori and Pachmarhi Wildlife Sanctuaries, this 2,133 sq km expanse – 1,339 sq km core buffered by 794 sq km – cradles a geological saga of Deccan Traps, Gondwana relics, and over 50 rock shelters etched with 1,500–10,000-year-old paintings of long-lost fauna, luring adventurers to Dhupgarh’s 1,351m summit amid monsoon-thundering Bee Falls and Dutchess cascades.

Wildlife: These jungles of Teak and Suja have Bengal tigers prowling mist-shrouded ravines with stealthy grace, sustained by Chital herds, majestic Sambar, elusive Nilgai, and Gaur; along with Leopards, Sloth Bears, Dholes, rare Indian giant squirrels and elusive otters.

Avian splendour soars with over 300 species—the endangered Black-bellied Tern, Indian Skimmers, critically imperilled Long-Billed Vultures—joined by 52 mammals, 31 reptiles like Rock Pythons and Monitor Lizards, and 130 butterflies in a biodiversity trove blending Himalayan and Nilgiri endemics.

Gateways like Madai, Reethi, and Pachmarhi summon dawn-dusk safaris—jeeps rumbling low-impact paths or canoes gliding glassy Denwa River. Online permits unlocking 4-hour quests from October-June, peaking March-May for tiger parades amid wild mango blooms.
