This expedition is designed for those who seek both adventure and stillness — a journey into the mountains where every day brings new terrain, new challenges, and the possibility of encountering one of the world’s most iconic wild cat.
This journey takes you from the heart of Delhi into the spectacular high-altitude landscapes of the Himalayas, where the search for the elusive Snow Leopard unfolds across remote valleys, ancient villages, and dramatic mountain terrain. It is a true expedition into one of India’s most extraordinary wilderness regions, combining travel, acclimatization, wildlife watching, and the timeless charm of Spiti.
Arrive in New Delhi and meet your Trip Leader at the airport. You will then transfer to your 5-star hotel for check-in and some time to relax before dinner. In the evening, we gather together over dinner to discuss the plan for the next day and the journey ahead.
After an early morning flight from Delhi to Chandigarh, begin your scenic drive towards the Spiti Himalayas. Covering approximately 250 kilometers, you will reach Rampur for an overnight halt. Settle into your 3 to 4-star hotel, enjoy dinner, and rest for the night.
Today, the drive continues higher into the mountains as you make your way to Tabo. Your stay for the night will be in a homestay, offering a warm and authentic mountain experience. By now, you will have covered about two-thirds of the journey to your final destination.
Begin the day with an early drive to Kibber village. En route, pause to visit the monastery and enjoy the shifting landscapes of the high Himalayas. By evening, you will arrive at your homestay in Kibber, home to the legendary Grey Ghost of the mountains — the Snow Leopard. By this stage, you will also have naturally acclimatized to the high altitude of around 4,000 meters above sea level.
These five days are dedicated entirely to exploring the landscapes around Kibber in search of the Snow Leopard and other high-altitude wildlife. Some days will involve scanning nearby slopes and ridgelines, while others will take you farther afield with naturalists and expert local spotters. Along with the Snow Leopard, there is also a chance to encounter other mountain animals and a few bird species adapted to this harsh environment.
Each evening, return to the homestay for warm hospitality, story time, and discussions about the wildlife seen during the day.
After a memorable week in Kibber, begin your return journey towards the foothills of the Himalayas. Drive approximately 250 kilometers back to Rampur and stay overnight at the same homestay used earlier on the way up. Rest and reflect on the unforgettable days in the high mountains.
Today is a longer travel day as you begin your descent towards Chandigarh airport. Stop for lunch and short breaks along the way, then board your flight to Delhi and reach the hotel. Alternatively, you may proceed directly for your international departure, depending on your flight schedule.
